Why Temple Sculptures Need Context, Not Just Translation

A temple sculpture is not only an image. It is a system of clues: posture, hands, ornaments, weapons, vahana, placement, surrounding figures, and the architecture around it.
A conch, chakra, trident, lotus, bull, lion, or peacock can change the reading of a sculpture. A mudra can shift the meaning again. The same form may be interpreted differently across regions and centuries.
That is why translation alone is not enough. Aitihasik connects a scan to iconography, dynasty, temple style, and learning guides so the user can move from identification to context.
The goal is not to replace scholarship. The goal is to make the first layer of cultural context available at the site, while preserving the need for careful verification and local knowledge.
