Airavatesvara Temple

Darasuram, Tamil Nadu
12th Century CE

Built by Rajaraja Chola II, this exquisite temple is smaller than the other Great Living Chola Temples but surpasses them in sculptural detail. The front mandapa is designed as a stone chariot drawn by horses, and the steps produce musical notes when tapped.
