Privacy Policy

Aitihasik ("we", "our", or "the App") is a cultural heritage platform that helps users explore ancient temples, inscriptions, and artifacts. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application and website.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address, and a unique user identifier. We use these details for authentication and app functionality. Your account identifier may also be associated with the usage analytics and subscription records described below.

Photos & Camera

When you scan, the selected image is sent through our backend to Google Gemini for analysis. We do not save the original image on the scanner server as part of that request. If you save a result, a copy of the image is kept in this device's app storage until you delete that scan or account. Google's processing and retention terms also apply to images it receives.

To recover interrupted requests without charging a scan twice, our server temporarily caches analysis text and request metadata linked to your account. Results can be replayed for 24 hours. Expired entries are removed by scheduled cleanup and account activity; deletion can take longer during an outage. Lifetime scan counts remain until account deletion. Cached results are not a public archive and cannot be read directly by app clients.

Location Data

With your permission, the app uses your location to show nearby heritage sites. Location access is optional. We do not continuously track your location in the background.

Usage Data

We record limited feature events to diagnose failures and improve the app. Events use a session identifier and may be associated with your account ID while you are signed in. They do not include scan photographs or inscription text.

Subscriptions

Apple or Google processes subscription payments. RevenueCat receives purchase and entitlement records linked to your app account identifier so we can activate Premium, restore purchases and understand subscription performance. We do not receive your payment card details. Store and RevenueCat retention requirements may apply to transaction records after account deletion.

Technical Diagnostics

Our Google Cloud monitoring records fixed error categories and platform, without attaching your account identifier, photos, transcription or raw error messages to those diagnostic entries. Scan timing events may be linked to your account as usage analytics. Apple and Google may separately provide platform crash and performance reports under their own settings and privacy policies.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain your account
• To analyse photos of temple artifacts and inscriptions
• To show nearby temples and heritage sites on the map
• To save your favourites, visited temples, and quiz progress
• To improve app features and fix bugs
• To send important service updates (never marketing emails)

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Firestore) with encryption at rest and in transit. Protected backend routes verify Firebase authentication, and network requests use HTTPS.

Third-Party Services

We use the following services:

• Google Firebase — Authentication, database, and analytics
• Google Gemini AI — Artifact and inscription analysis
• RevenueCat, Apple App Store and Google Play — Subscription processing, entitlement verification and purchase restoration
• Pinecone — Vector search for finding similar artifacts
• Expo / EAS — App build and update delivery

Each service has its own privacy policy. We only share the minimum data required for each service to function.

Tracking & Advertising

Aitihasik does not track you across other apps or websites. We do not use advertising identifiers, sell your data, or display third-party advertisements.

Your Rights

• Access & Export: You can view all your data in the Profile section of the app.
• Deletion:You can delete your account and linked app records, including scan usage, analytics events, and submitted scan feedback, from Profile → Delete Account. Saved local scans are also removed. Store subscriptions must be cancelled separately in your Apple or Google account.
• Opt-out: You can revoke camera and location permissions at any time through your device settings.

Children's Privacy

Aitihasik is designed for general audiences interested in cultural heritage. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app. Your continued use of Aitihasik after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
